Warning

Although singing with the Maesteg Gleemen Male Voice Choir is fun and very good for your health, it may be ADDICTIVE, and some members find that once started, you may not be able to stop.

Where do we rehearse?

Our headquarters is upstairs at The Nantyffyllon RFC, Maesteg CF34 0BU.

When do we rehearse?

6:30 pm to 8. 30 pm Monday & Thursday

​

Must I be able to read music?

No, but it is a help If you can. So long as you can follow the 'highs' and 'lows' you should be fine.

 

Do you need to audition?

certainly not is the answer to that! There is however a short voice 'test' whereby the Music Team listen to you (privately) in order to establish the choir section to which you are most suited. For example, Top Tenor, 2nd Tenor, Baritone or Bass.

 

What do we sing?

Anything that can be arranged for four-part male harmony. Yes, we still perform the traditional Male Voice repertoire and of course the Welsh favourites but in recent years we have adapted our 'style' of singing to the more modern era. Examples of this can be heard at our Annual Concerts held at the

Maesteg Town Hall.

 

How often do we perform In public?

We perform an average of 25 to 30 times a year, these include Wedding Ceremonies, Charity Concerts, Concert Tours, Competitions and of course our ever-popular Annual Concert.

How much does It cost?

Our weekly subscription fee is £4. We are completely self-financing and the purchase of Instruments, sheet music, Choir uniforms etc. are supplied free of charge with the understanding that they remain the property of the Choir.

 

What other activities are there?

Apart from our public performances we also have time for social events.
